TEMPLE, Texas — Crews will begin a second round of debris collection for parts of Temple starting on Saturday.
According to the city, D&J Enterprises, who they have partnered with to help with the debris collection and cleanup, will prioritize locations that were skipped in their first pass through to collect brush. Their route will go through eight total areas in the city, starting in the south part of town and finishing in an area near the center.
The city says this second pass for brush will be free of charge, but regular solid waste guidelines will be put back into place once it is completed. Satellite locations are still unavailable until further notice.
During their last collection effort, crews brought in 3,658 brush loads, which totaled 182,921 cubic yards of debris that was collected. The city says those that did not get their debris picked up in the first pass was likely due to a few factors, including:
- Powerlines
- Low tree canopies
- Utility or water meters
- Other obstructions
Private roads and gated communities were initially excluded due to FEMA rules, but the city says they are not eligible for pickup.
The city also advises residents to not have anything blocking piles and that vegetative brush debris is kept separate from bulk debris.
As for garbage and collection routes, the city says recycling is caught up, while the Thursday and Friday routes for garbage collection are behind. The Monday-Wednesday routes are on track. The city is asking residents to leave their bins out over the weekend if they haven't been collected since crews will be continuing to work on Saturday.
