WACO, Texas — All the ladies… and gentlemen in the Channel 6 newsroom were gushing after watching a promposal video that seems to be quickly going viral.
A Midway High School student with special needs is winning the internet after a promposal that will make others want to sit back and take notes.
Benjamin, who is a non-verbal student, pulled out all the stops to ask Kendall, who is also a non-verbal student, to the prom.
Benjamin and Kendall have known one another since they were 3 years old, Ashley Ballew said in a Facebook post.
“Their bond is unbreakable,” she said."We’ve always known they would go to prom together. Everyone always talks about it."
In the video Ballew posted, Kendall is waiting in the gym as Benjamin enters bearing a huge home-made heart decorated with pictures of the long-time friends through the years and one question: “Prom 2019?”
A big smile spreads across Kendall’s face as on-lookers break out their phones to capture the unforgettable moment.
Just when you think the hand-designed heart is enough to get Kendall to say yes, in walks the men’s choir to sing an original composition.
Stars of the summer night
When you will look so bright
Kendall dear, if you please
Will you go to prom with me?
An excited Kendall throws her hands in the air and applauds at the conclusion of the serenade. She then pushes what appears to be a customized voice button that says, “Yes, I will,” in response.
"Benjamin loves music and has been in choir since he began high school. We thought this would be an awesome way to ask Kendall," Ballew said.
Ballew said she knows promposals are a "big thing" and she wanted Benjamin and Kendall "to be able be just like their typical peers."
