The Waco PD said the man came out of the home in the 10000 block of Iron Horse Trail after 7.5 hours. He was then taken to hospital to be evaluated.

WACO, Texas — Nobody was injured after the Waco Police Department and its SWAT team responded to a welfare check in Waco Tuesday afternoon.

Police were sent to a home in the 10000 block of Iron Horse Trail just before 9 a.m. after receiving a call from a woman that her husband was experiencing a mental health crisis and that there were guns in the home, according to a release.

Officers arrived on scene and tried to get the man, who remains unidentified, to come outside but were unsuccessful, police said.

The SWAT team was called and a MHMR crisis team also reported to the scene, police said. A mental health warrant was obtained and the SWAT team and negotiators tried to get the man to come out of the home to serve the warrant.

He finally came out after approximately 7.5 hours of negotiation, police said. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
