DALLAS — A Big Tex Choice Award winner has found its perfect pair in the form of a beer, Lakewood Brewing announced.

Rousso’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick is a piece of thick-cut bacon with a cotton candy syrup glaze wrapped in cotton candy and lightly caramelized. Lakewood Brewing’s Cotton Candy Bacon Blonde Ale has a slightly sweet taste with a hit of smoky bacon flavor, Lakewood Brewing said in a press release. Both will be available at the State Fair of Texas this year.

The drink will be available in the Magnolia Beer Garden from Sept. 27 through Oct. 20 and at the Lakewood Brewing Taproom, the release states.

“We’ve put bacon in beer before, and we’ve done fun sweet flavors as well, but to put both in a beer and make it super drinkable took a group effort," Wim Bens, founder and president of Lakewood Brewing said in the release. "But the finished brew turned out fantastic."

Cotton Candy Bacon Blonde Ale will have a competition for the title of the zaniest beer at the fair. Fletcher's Corny Dogs and Martin House Brewing of Fort Worth announced it will bring their mustard-flavored beer to the fairgrounds this year.

Rousso’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick won Best Taste in the sweet category at the Big Tex Choice Awards.

Lakewood is a DFW-based brewery known for its seasonal beers including Pumpkin Spice Latte Temptress, Punkel, and Pony Pils, the release states.
