1 dead, 2 injured in northwest Austin homicide

Austin police are investigating this as the city's 49th homicide this year.

The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a deadly shooting involving three people early Tuesday morning in northwest Austin.

According to APD, the incident happened just before 3 a.m. in front of a business on the 12000 block of Research Boulevard, between Oak Knoll Drive and Spicewood Springs Road.

Police said one person died on scene and another was transported to a nearby hospital. The state of that person's condition is unclear.

In a media briefing Tuesday, APD also said the department made contact at a hospital with an additional person who was involved.

Police said this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public at this time.

This is Austin's 49th homicide this year.
