SEATTLE — Bill! Bill! Bill! Bill!

Since the late 1980s, Bill Nye has made a name for himself in television as Bill Nye the Science Guy. Now, his name will appear on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as one of its newest honorees.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame announced the Class of 2025 honorees on Monday. Nye, 68, is among eight other honorees in the television category.

“Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields,” said chairman Peter Roth. “The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”

Nye’s television career started in Seattle, budding from stand-up comedy gigs in his free time when not working at Boeing as an engineer. He started as a writer for KING 5’s comedy show “Almost Live!” and when they needed to fill a few minutes one day, Bill Nye the Science Guy arrived — kooky humor and many fiery experiments followed.

“Bill Nye the Science Guy” became a syndicated show on Disney/PBS between 1993 and 1998. His mission is "to help foster a scientifically literate society, to help people everywhere understand and appreciate the science that makes our world work," according to his website.

Nye continues to serve as a science expert for media outlets and has authored several books. He is a board member of the Mount St. Helens Institute and serves as CEO of the Planetary Society, the world’s largest space-interest group.
