SALADO, Texas — The Mustang Springs Development group is facing backlash from the community of Salado.
The group has already been fined $45,000 by Salado Village for starting construction on new homes without any permits, according to the Salado Village. Its goal is to build 600 homes in what they promise is luxury living in the Hill Country. Current residents see these potential homes as a huge problem.
Several residents expressed their concerns at a community meeting Wednesday afternoon.
"There are variations in the water level that clearly demonstrate a downward trend," one resident said during the meeting.
"We have to do this within reason with the resources we have," another resident also said during the meeting.
These homeowners expressed their concerns to the Clearwater Underground Water Conservation District in a meeting that lasted just over two hours. Many were furious, commenting on the ethics of the company.
6 News has reached out to the development group and we haven't heard back by the time this story was published.
Clearwater Underground Water Conservation District took note of the complaints and concerns, asking who would like to testify on Feb. 14 when evidence will be presented to show why residents think the development should not be built n Salado.
