Report: Baylor's Scott Drew to officially meet with Kentucky

The report comes just hours after the unveiling of former Kentucky Basketball Head Coach John Calipari's contract at Arkansas.

WACO, Texas — As the thrill of the NCAA Tournament dies down and big name programs look for their next move, Baylor's Scott Drew is reportedly heading to Lexington, Kentucky to meet about the open head coaching position.

This report comes from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, also known as "College Basketball's Hungriest Insider," on X.

While it's unknown when this alleged meeting is taking place, many are speculating it is happening sooner rather than later.

On Tuesday, April 9, Kentucky's Head Coach John Calipari announced his departure from the program in a social media post. On Wednesday, the University of Arkansas announced that he would be joining the program after signing a 5-year contract that pays him $7 million annually.

Kentucky is really hoping to fill the role with someone who has tenure and a proven, winning track record.

Drew, who was hired by Baylor in 2003, was able to transform the Bears into a contender year in and year out. He led the Bears to be named Big 12 regular-season champions multiple times and brought the university its first National Championship in 2021.

Another hot name being tossed around in this search is UConn's Dan Hurley, who is fresh off of winning his second National Championship in two years.
