TEMPLE, Texas — A sanitary sewer is reportedly overflowing near Bird Creek, according to the City of Temple.
The City says that due to rain, the sewer in the area of 61 Street and Northwood Road has overflowed over 100,000 gallons of discharge.
Bird Creek is the affected receiving stream, according to the City, and they are taking measures to contain, disinfect and remove any trace of chlorine from the discharge.
The City says cleanup of the area will continue after the discharge stops.
Crews are reportedly onsite monitoring the situation and are intercepting the flow as much as possible.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has reportedly been notified of the situation.
