BRYAN, Texas — A recent burglary has left a Bryan restaurant deliberating on whether or not to continue accepting cash payments going forward.
Pepe's Mexican Cafe, located off of South College Avenue near Villa Maria Road, says thieves busted through their drive through window at some point during the night and made off with the cash drawers that were inside the establishment.
As a result of the burglary, the restaurant has had to only accept credit cards for payment during business hours on Tuesday. The move to cashless payments could be a permanent one, however, according to owner Kip Martin.
"(I'm) very seriously considering not doing cash business anymore, in fact, for MANY reasons, this being a big one. I hate that, for both my customers and even for much larger...well, reasons, I guess," he said in a post on Facebook.
No information has been provided on the possible suspects responsible for the theft.
