Porch collapses under weight of Saints fans at popular New Orleans bar

Wrong Iron says it will be closed until further notice, and it’s assessing the damages.

NEW ORLEANS — A packed house of Saints fans watching the game at Wrong Iron On The Greenway got a bit of a scare after the patio decking collapsed.

Owner of Wrong Iron, Rusty White, tells us that around halftime, it started to rain. Fans packed the porch of the bar and were dancing. That’s when the porch fell.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, five people were hurt, only one seriously enough to be taken to the hospital. The other four were treated on scene.

Pictures circulated on social media of the porch dropping a foot and a half to the ground.

New Orleans EMS, NOPD, NOFD, and New Orleans fire marshal were on the scene.

Wrong Iron says it will be closed until further notice, and it’s assessing the damages.

Here is a full statement from Wrong Iron:

"During today's rainstorm, our courtyard guests moved to the porch for cover, which led to unexpected porch sinkage of an estimated 1.5 feet. When building Wrong Iron, we worked closely with an engineering firm and professional construction company to ensure the facility was built to the highest standards. In light of today's incident, we will be thoroughly evaluating the original plans and conducting a full investigation. We are bringing in these experts to determine what happened and to develop a resolution, ensuring that something like this does not occur again. The safety of our guests remains our top priority, and we will provide updates as we move forward."
