'They went above and beyond' | Community rallies to support the Copperas Cove fire victims

The Willow Creek Apartment fire has now left several families without a home for the holidays.

COPPERAS COVE, Texas — People from all over Central Texas are coming together to support families affected by a devastating apartment fire in Copperas Cove that happened on Nov. 14.

The fire spread through multiple apartments in Building Eight, leaving many families without homes and possessions.

Texas HomePro, a local contracting company, has helped with relief efforts. What started as a simple Facebook post quickly turned into an overwhelming display of community support with some even offering up their homes.

From brand new mattresses to toiletries, the outpouring has been non-stop with donations coming from as far as Lampasas and Gatesville.

Joshua Beal, co-owner of Texas HomePro, expressed his empathy for the victims and understands the long road ahead for those affected.

"It's heartbreaking for everybody involved," Beal told 6 News. "Their electronics are destroyed, photos are destroyed, family heirlooms are destroyed. You have to start over entirely."

That's why they felt called to help.

"We didn't expect anything close to this though," Beal said. "They went above and beyond. We have so many bags of clothes, you can fill up 20 pickup trucks."

Copperas Cove residents like Adrianna Yciano and Lydia Cody emphasized the importance of coming together during difficult times.

"This doesn't happen often, but when it does happen, I'm glad that the community is able to come together, especially during this holiday season," Yciano said.

Cody added a hopeful note, saying, "Hopefully it comes before around Christmas time because that'd be a great Christmas miracle."

As the fire marshal's office investigates the cause of the fire, the focus remains on supporting the affected families.

This incident has served as a powerful reminder of the strength of local communities.

As Beal pointed out, "At the end of the day, it's the people that live within an hour of you, that's who you're associating with 99% of the time. That's who's gonna fix your car, that's gonna fix your house."
