One-year-old injured after crane truck slams into SUV in Harker Heights, police say

The SUV crumpled upon impact when a crane truck broadsided it Monday morning.

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas — A one-year-old was flown to McLane Children's Hospital Monday morning after a crane truck ran into an SUV in which the child was travelling, according to the Nolanville police chief.

It happened at the intersection of the Central Texas Expressway and Edwards Dr. near the Nola Ruth bridge police said.

Police said the child was responsive to treatment. The child was taken to Seton Medical Center before being flown to McLane in Temple.

Police said the child's parents had minor injuries.

The crane had the right-of-way according to police. Witnesses reported that the SUV drove into the path of the truck which was going south on Edwards Dr.

A picture from the scene showed the SUV crumpled underneath the crane portion of the truck. The truck is owned by Citadel Crane Services in Nolanville.
