WORTHAM, Texas — A woman is dead after her car was hit by a train while crossing the tracks near Wortham, Texas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to DPS, Troopers responded to a crash on CR 1001 near SH 14, north of Wortham, around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.
DPS said a Honda Pilot had been struck by a train while crossing a railroad.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Angeline Gama of Wortham, died at the scene, said DPS. Two children, a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old, were reportedly taken to Baylor Scott & White in Waco to be treated for possible injuries.
Next of kin have reportedly been notified, and an investigation is active and ongoing, said DPS.
