DPS: 39-year-old man killed in wrong-way crash south of Marlin

The accident happened around 8 p.m. Thursday evening, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

MARLIN, Texas — A 39-year-old man is dead after a wrong-way crash Thursday evening south of Marlin.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), their troopers were notified of a crash on Business State Highway 6 near CR-2885 south of Marlin shortly before 8 p.m. that evening. Troopers investigated the crash and found that a Cadillac CTS that was headed north entered the opposite lane and crashed into a Chevrolet Spark.

The driver of the Chevy, identified as Jerry Hocking, 39, of Mart, was pronounced dead alongside the passenger. DPS says they will identify the passenger when next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken to Baylor Scott & White in Waco for a non-life-threatening injury.

DPS says an investigation into the crash is active and ongoing.
