LORENA, Texas — Four family pets were saved during an operation to extinguish a fire at a home in Lorena Tuesday morning.
According to the Lorena Fire Department, they were notified of a fire in the city that morning at 7:10 a.m. Responding crews arrived at the home to find smoke coming from the front door of a home and began working to battle the fire.
Fortunately, crews were able to contain the fire quickly, and by 7:45 a.m., it was declared "under control." No injuries were reported and a total of four pets from the affected family were able to be removed safely from the home.
Lorena FD says that because the door to where the fire began in was closed, it only affected a small portion of the house. LFD says it shows the importance of closing doors before going to sleep and is an essential part of the "Close before you doze" fire safety initiative to help prevent fires from becoming more destructive.
In total, three units and five personnel from the Lorena Fire Department responded to the incident, with the Hewitt Fire Department, Robinson Fire Department, and Lorena Police Department also on scene.
