TEMPLE, Texas — Numerous emergency vehicles responded to alarms in downtown Temple on Tuesday, June 25, including Temple Fire and Rescue, Temple Police and Temple EMS.
6 News anchor Baylee Bates was on scene and saw dozens of people roaming the streets trying to figure out what was going on.
Some people said they smelled a strong smoke smell from inside other downtown businesses. One resident said they heard fire and smoke alarms going off.
Temple Fire and Rescue, Police and EMS all responded to the call around 7:11 p.m.
According to Temple Fire and Rescue, the incident was due to ongoing construction in a commercial structure. Crews were reportedly welding up a door frame, which ignited the inside of the door.
Temple Fire and Rescue said there was minimal damage, but smoldering caused moderate amounts of smoke.
No injuries were reported.
