MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — Midway Middle School students and families received a letter Tuesday that confirmed a case of COVID-19 of a staff member on campus.
According to Midway ISD, there were no students or staff member there were in close contact, due to safety protocols that are in place.
"Midway ISD believes in transparency and respects the right of parents to be informed of their children’s proximity to the COVID-19 pandemic. We consider this letter to be in line with our standard notification protocol of what we typically send for cases like influenza, strep, RSV, or lice," Midway Middle School Principal Dr. Herb Cox said. "While you may have a strong emotional reaction to this information, please know that there is no need for alarm, only vigilance in monitoring symptoms and emphasizing safety procedures like properly wearing face coverings, hand washing and physical distancing."
