Midway High School football coach resigns following time away from program

The coach recently announced that he would be stepping away to address personal matters.

WACO, Texas — Waco Midway High School's Coach Shane Anderson has resigned from his position as head football coach and athletic coordinator, according to a letter sent to parents on Saturday, Oct. 14. 

According to the letter sent out by Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen, Anderson resigned to address personal matters. Esrom Martinez will take over as interim head to finish out the season. 

Previously, it was made known that Anderson would be "away from the football program" while the district looked into a "non-student-related personal situation", according to a statement by Midway ISD.

The district released a statement from Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

The nature of the situation has not been released at this time, and no further information was given.
