MEXIA, Texas — The Mexia community is coming together to help one of its own.

Senior football player Micah Kirven suffered a medical event and according to family is in a Temple hospital.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes planned a "Prayer for Micah Kirven" vigil on Tuesday evening at Blackcat Field to pray for a "full recovery." Neighboring rival Groesbeck also planned a prayer vigil to support the Mexia community during this difficult time.

Brian Hullum of the Mexia Athletic Booster Club said Micah is a very special young man and is a big part of the athletic community and Blackcat community. The group decided to sell #MicahStrong t-shirts as a fundraiser to help the Kirven family and all the proceeds will go directly to the family.

Previously, Kirven was named the "Texas Farm Bureau Insurance - Limestone County Player of the Week" for rushing for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries in the Blackcats' game against Westwood.

T-shirts will be on sale until Friday, October 4th. Donations can also be made directly through CASH APP: $BrianHullum or VENMO: @Brian-Hullum just use the memo: Donation.
