MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — The Waco-McLennan County Emergency Management has issued a county-wide burn ban in response to extreme heat and a lack of rainfall that the area has seen.
The burn ban was approved by the McLennan County Commissioner's Court on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and is in effect until further notice.
"This ban is a precautionary measure to protect the community from the increased risk of wildfire," Emergency Management said in a press release regarding the ban.
Those who are found in violation of the burn ban will be subject to fines, depending on the severity of the offense.
