WACO, Texas — McLennan Community College donated supplies and loaned equipment to Ascension Providence and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest in Waco to help ease the possible strain caused by medical equipment shortages during the coronavirus pandemic.
MCC's Respiratory Care program loaned four ventilators to Ascension Providence. Meanwhile the college's Health Professions division loaned 10 hospital beds to Baylor Scott & White.
The college was also able to donate supplies like face masks, gloves, surgical gowns and isolation gowns to Providence, Hillcrest and the Family Health Center.
"We are extremely blessed to have amazing facilities and tools to teach our students,” Dean of Health Professions Glynnis Gaines said. “It is our pleasure to contribute to a unified effort to care for patients in our community through the donation of supplies and sharing of necessary equipment. The faculty in our programs are not only educators, but healthcare professionals. If we can support our colleagues and help our community through these simple gestures, we feel it is our privilege and our duty."
