MCGREGOR, Texas — The McGregor Independent School District's Board of Trustees approved a voluntary separation agreement with its head football coach and athletic director Judd Thrash, superintendent James Lenamon said.
Lenamon said the agreement resolved the situation to both parties' mutual satisfaction. He said he can't comment further on the agreement.
The board was in a closed session for about an hour before the announcement was made.
According to a copy of the settlement document KCEN Channel 6 obtained from a source, Thrash will receive a lump sum of $116,733.39, which was the rest of his salary remaining in his contract, in exchange for his resignation.
Based on the evidence the board found during its investigation, the district and Thrash agreed it isn't required to send a report to the State Board for Educator Certification or the Texas Education Agency, the document said.
However, if the district does discover evidence of misconduct by Thrash, it will make a report, the document said.
Coach Thrash was not expected to attend the meeting, his attorney said on Thursday.
His attorney also said on Thursday both sides had tentatively reached a resolution.
The special meeting on Friday night immediately went into closed session when it started at 7:30 p.m.
Thrash was placed on paid leave pending an investigation from the district in January.
The meetings agenda includes "consider and discuss investigation report related to issues with Athletic Department" and "deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, duties, discipline or dismissal of employees."
It is still not clear what led the district to investigate the department.
