MARLIN, Texas — Marlin High School's Head Football Coach Ruben Torres announced that he will be leaving the program on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Torres told 6 News that he is leaving to be the offensive coordinator at Naaman Forest High School in Garland, Texas.
During his three seasons at Marlin, Torres made a run at the state semifinals and helped bring the Bulldogs their first district title in 18 years in 2023.
Torres says Marlin will always have a special place in his heart and he's excited for what's to come next.
"Some special kids have come through here that made a big impact on my life and changed how I coached and made me a better coach," Torres explained.
Marlin ISD Superintended Dr. Darryl Henson stated, "Coach Torres's passion, dedication, and the legacy of success he leaves behind have not only elevated Marlin ISD's athletics, but have also inspired our students and community. While it's difficult to see him go, we are immensely proud of what he has achieved and wish him the very best in his new role. His impact here will be felt for many years to come."
