Man allegedly involved in shooting at Waco hotel 'No billed' by Grand Jury

Police said one person was shot during an incident at a Waco hotel on July 15, 2023.

WACO, Texas — A man who was allegedly involved in a shooting at a hotel in Waco in July 2023 was "no billed" by a Grand Jury on Nov. 9, according to the Waco Police Department.

A "no bill" means that after reviewing all evidence associated with the investigation, the Jury determined that there was not enough evidence to indict the man on criminal charges.

According to Waco PD, the shooting occurred at a hotel in the 200 block of Clay Avenue in Waco, TX on Saturday, July 15.

Officers arrived on scene around 3:15 a.m., according to the department, where they found a man who had been shot. The man was reportedly taken to the hospital, where police say he died of his injuries.

According to police, the shooting occurred after another man heard screaming for help in a hallway. Police said the man, described as "the shooter", who heard the screaming, approached a room where another man, who police describe as "the aggressor", and three women were in the middle of an "altercation".

Police said the "shooter" attempted to help, and the "aggressor" started to attack him. The shooter then allegedly shot the aggressor.

One of the women involved in the altercation also reportedly suffered minor injuries. Police say everyone involved were hotel guests.

No further information on the case has been provided at this time.
