BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas — The Bosque County Sheriff's Office said in a press release Texas State Game Wardens found a drowning victim's body on Lake Whitney near Uncle Gus marina at about 11:11 a.m. Tuesday.
The body has not been positively identified and an autopsy is pending, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office said it first got the call about the drowning at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, and a man told the office he and his friend were fishing on a canoe near the marina then their boat capsized.
Game wardens and Hill County authorities searched the water for the missing man immediately, and they found out he wasn't wearing a life jacket when the boat capsized, the release said. They found the canoe and the items that were in it on the shoreline, near where it had capsized, the release said.
The search was called off right before it got dark Monday, and it restarted at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
