Several areas inaccessible as Lake Waco still 20 feet over normal levels, City says

Heavy rains have caused flooding across Central Texas over the past few weeks, leaving roads and some local areas covered in water.

WACO, Texas — Some parts of Waco may still be underwater due to flooding after heavy rains the past few weeks.

The City of Waco said on Saturday, May 11 that Lake Waco is still flooded. In fact, they say it is currently almost 20 feet above normal levels.

The flooding is causing many locations around Waco to remain covered in water, said the City, including sections of the downtown riverwalk, Cameron Park River Trail and other areas near the lake.

The City said these areas are not accessible at this time.

The City of Waco is asking drivers to exercise caution. Detours and closures are reportedly posted.
