KISD appoints new assistant superintendent

A veteran educator of 31 years will be filling one of the Killeen ISD's top leadership roles.

Killeen ISD announced the appointment Wednesday of their new Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Leadership Services.

David Manley, a veteran educator of 31 years, will fill one of the district’s top leadership roles. Manley will be replacing Dr. Robin Champagne who is retiring.

Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft said Manley has done an outstanding job at every level of his career.

“He has tremendous leadership and communications skills and is well respected throughout the organization,” Dr. Craft said. “I have full confidence in David to do an excellent job as our new Assistant Superintendent.”

Since July 2015, Manley has served the district as executive director of secondary leadership. He was responsible for supervision and leadership of all KISD middle and high schools. During the 2014-2015 school year, he served as executive director of athletics for the district after serving three years as principal of Ellison High School for a year until June 2009. He was also a principal of Rancier Middle School and assistant principal of Ellison High School.

During his career, Manley served for 21 years as a teacher at Copperas Cove ISD, Comal ISD, and at Ellison High. He was also head basketball coach for 19 years.

Manley said he is incredibly humbled by the opportunity to serve in this position.

“I have been blessed to serve in each role I’ve held in my career in KISD,” Manley said. “I am looking forward to continuing the tremendous work we are doing to support student learning across our district.”
