Killeen Police are searching for 26-year-old Deon Clay after he fled on foot in a Killeen neighborhood following a traffic stop and a short car pursuit.

Detectives with the Killeen Criminal Investigation Division Special Missions Unit are investigating and searching for 26-year-old Deon Clay, who has an outstanding warrant.

At 4 p.m. Friday, detectives stopped a silver Chevy Malibu at the intersection of Trimmier Road and Atlas Avenue in Killeen. Police said a female driver got out of the car, but Clay, who was seated in the passenger's side of the vehicle, jumped into the driver's seat and sped off.

Clay led the officers on a short pursuit to Safari Street, got out of the car and ran, according to KPD. The fugitive is still at large, and police officials said they believe he is "armed and dangerous."

Killeen Police Spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said an 18-month-old infant was left in the vehicle when the suspect fled.

Clay was last seen wearing a dark shirt, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes.

Police searched for the fugitive around nearby neighborhoods, according to Miramontez.

Detectives searched the suspect's car for any type of evidence, but did not disclose whether or not anything was found.

Killeen Police are asking the community to contact them or Crime Stoppers at (254)526-TIPS(8477) if they have any information about Clay's whereabouts.
