KILLEEN, Texas — The City of Killeen has been named the most affordable and fastest growing city in the United States by GoBankingRates.com.
According to the city, the rankings were derived from a study of the most recent American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau.
This study analyzed 200 of the biggest cities and their population change over the recent years. Factors that were taken into consideration were median household income, average rent, average home values and overall cost of living.
According to the study, Killeen has a typical home value of $225,885 and a five-year growth rate of 9.39%. Additionally, the study showed the cost of living in Killeen is only 83.7% of the national average.
Killeen City Manager Kent Cagle stated, “Killeen continues to be a place citizens of all ages want to live, learn and grow. As we chip away at accomplishing items on our Killeen 2040 Comprehensive Plan, this information is more proof that we are moving our city forward and focusing in the right direction.”
