KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Independent School District Board approved a new fire alarm system for Live Oak Ridge Middle School in a meeting Tuesday night, Killeen ISD chief communications officer Terry Abbott.
The school's current system is 16 years old and has been failing recently, the school board said.
Multiple false alarms have been triggered and the out of sync alarm strobes could cause seizures, according to Abbott.
The project will cost $170,000 and the district's 2019 Capital Improvement Project budget will pay for it, Abbott said.
