KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen residents can get their fix of baked potatoes this Friday, Nov 22.
The City of Killeen is hosting the Ultimate Baked Potato lunch Fundraiser for United Way Greater Tri-County Area, according to the city's news release issued on Tuesday night.
The fundraiser will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the City Hall foyer. Anyone who chooses the drive-through will pick up their food at the south parking lot behind the foyer.
Meals cost $5, which include a baked potato with toppings and lemonade. Adding brisket and a cookie to your order is an additional five dollars, making the total cost $10. The toppings are butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon, salt and pepper.
One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the local United Way chapter.
The City of Killeen has partnered with United Way for 23 years. Within the last three years, the partnership has raised over $200,000 through various fundraisers.
United Way of the Greater Tri-County Area has supported health and human services in the Fort Cavazos area for decades, funding 21 programs through member agencies.
The fundraiser is one of several supported by local businesses, including Walmart, meant to assist individuals and families in need across Central Texas.
