It's time to get spooky! Local store throws Halloween party for kids at Baylor Scott and White

Spirit Halloween's "Spirit of Children" program is working to raise $10 million for partnering hospitals across the country.

TEMPLE, Texas — Games, crafts and costumes! Oh my!

On Tuesday, patients at Baylor Scott and White McLane Children's Medical Center got to celebrate Halloween a few weeks early.

"Having this party here gives them a chance to not only do something fun, but something normal that they would be doing if they weren't here in the hospital," Child Life Specialist Leah Woodward said.

Throughout October, Spirit Halloween surprises pediatric kids that might not be able to celebrate the spookiest of holidays.

"We've been here for nine days so having some out of the room time and not being attached to the bed and having something to do is great for him," KC Herron said.

The company's "Spirit of Children" program has in-store fundraising every year with proceeds benefiting local child life departments with hospital partners.

Last year's fundraiser raised $9.4 million for 141 partnering hospitals. The program's goal this year is to raise more than $10 million. Donations can be made at Spirit Halloween or online
