TEMPLE, Texas — The Central Texas community is mourning the loss of Kris Radcliffe, a man who dedicated over twenty years to uplifting those around him. Known for his infectious spirit and commitment to service, Kris’s presence was felt on and off the air, impacting countless lives.
Kris was more than a familiar face on KCEN; he was a staple at community events, from dusting off his cowboy boots for country-themed gatherings to modeling a bedazzled bra at the American Cancer Society's annual Bra Brunch. His willingness to embrace any role highlighted his deep-rooted love for the community.
“He was kind, loved to hear people's stories and was genuinely interested in what we were doing,” said American Cancer Society volunteer Karen Dungan. “It wasn’t just all about Kris. He wanted to share everybody’s goodness with the rest of the community.”
Kris’s commitment to giving back was evident through his involvement with various local organizations. From volunteering at local hospitals to supporting the Salvation Army, his dedication never wavered.
“Seeing Kris at the annual Boots and Bandanas event was always special," said Marcine Chambers, a representative from the Salvation Army. "You could work hard but have a lot of fun, and he embodied that spirit.”
Kris's warm personality and dad jokes brought joy to many.
“He was a man’s man with a genuine love for his family,” said Chambers. “His role on camera was not just a job; the community was his family.”
The impact of Kris's passing is profound, as reflected in the heartfelt tributes from friends and colleagues alike.
“His legacy will continue to inspire and influence our community and beyond,” stated Veshell Greene, Interim CEO of United Way. “Kris had a kind heart and inspired many people without even realizing it.”
Seleese Thompson, owner of Precious Memories Flower Shop, cherished her friendship with Kris for over fifteen years, especially during the holidays when he hosted the Chrome and Carols event.
