SAN ANTONIO — An infant is dead following a reported shooting at a VA hospital in the Medical Center Monday afternoon, authorities say.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus provided an update saying three children and a woman were in a parked car outside the hospital awaiting an appointment of some type.
McManus says one of the older children found a loaded gun in the backseat of the car and accidentally shot a younger child inside the car.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. McManus couldn't confirm whether the child was 10 months old or 11 months old.
The other two children were 3 and 2 years old.
Police say it is not yet clear who owns the gun.
No charges have been announced at this time.
