TEMPLE, Texas — The "improper disposal of smoking materials" caused a fire to break out in a two-story home in Temple Tuesday
According to Temple Fire and Rescue, eight people were inside the home located at 819 S. 5th St. when the fire broke out before 10 a.m.
When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and fire coming out of the balcony and learned that all people evacuated, TFR said. No injuries were reported.
A total of nine units and 23 firefighters arrived at the home to extinguish the fire.
After investigating, fire crews determined that the fire started in the trim of the second-floor balcony.
Temple Police also helped with traffic and kept the area under control as fire crews worked to put out the fire.
