TEMPLE, Texas — The community of Temple will get the opportunity to tour 14 different locations to learn about the revitalization of the downtown area.
Imagine the Possibilities Tour is a self-guided tour, hosted by Discover Downtown Temple and the Temple Main Street Program, and will showcase more than a dozen locations for sale, for lease, being rehabbed or restored.
"Seeing it come back and with a lot more enthusiasm than ever expected is extremely exciting," Patrick Guillen, the owner of City Eats Food Hall, said.
The major makeover for downtown Temple will include living spaces, new restaurants and everything in between.
"I've never seen a community like Temple where all the stars seem to be coming into alignment so that the exciting level of development can take place that's taking place here," Main Street manager Dan Kelleher said.
One business owner is optimistic his restaurant will draw a crowd because of its variety of options.
"Kind of a multi-purpose restaurant slash taproom slash deli and coffee shop and roastery," Jacob Bates said.
Adding this many renovations at once has taken time.
"It's been a lot of work from the business owners themselves and helping and trying to spread the word and doing their best and putting their best foot forward for the city," Bates said.
The event took place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Kelleher said contractors will work to make it easier on existing businesses during all the construction. Additionally, the spots for the renovations aren't close to each other, so he said it shouldn't cause too many problems.
If you plan on attending, tour maps are available on the Discover Downtown Temple website, Temple Visitors Center, and Discover Downtown Office.
