Identities released of man killed, 3 injured in Waco shooting

The injured men were found on the scene and down the street by Waco police

WACO, Texas —

A shooting happened in Waco in the area of 19th and Trice around 8:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Waco Police Department. 

One person was killed and three others were injured. Police found 20-year-old Joangel Ortegon, who died in a home around 10 p.m.

One man was found when officers arrived on the scene. Another man was found down the street. Both were taken to a hospital.

 A third man was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle. Waco PD does not know the condition of the three injured. 

The three men injured were identified as Douglas James, 30; Kevin Walsh, 22 and Carson Elias, 19. The injuries sustained by the three men were gunshots wounds to different parts of their bodies. 

James had a gunshot wound to the back, Walsh received a gunshot wound to the chest and Elias had two gunshot wounds to lower extremities, according to Waco PD.   

Waco PD is not sure if they are all suspects, if only some are suspects or if all four are victims. The investigation is still ongoing.

This is the fifth time there has been a shooting or shots fired in Waco this week alone.
