HEWITT, Texas — When Kristi Reid parked her trailer at the Waco Truck Stop in Hewitt, she never expected it, and the life she had inside of it, would get stolen.
Sometime between Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, someone pulled up to where Reid had parked the trailer, taken it and escaped northbound on I-35. When Reid returned to the lot, she was devastated.
Hewitt police and Reid are trying everything to find this trailer that's worth $20,000. Inside the trailer is everything Reid owns, including sentimental pictures and family heirlooms.
"I know that stuff can be replaced, but some of that stuff can't be replaced," Reid said.
Hewitt police can't do much right now, but they're working to get photos of the trailer up on their website. This is something Chief John McGrath says can help find the trailer.
More eyes equal a smaller chance of this trailer slipping by.
Reid has already posted her own pictures to Facebook, hoping it will lead to a tip or something that might help bring her things back.
At this point, Reid said she is willing to forget that someone did this if they just drop the trailer where they found it.
"I'd even help them if they need it," Reid explained.
She warns everyone to not be as trusting as her. She thought as a local, everything would be alright, but it wasn't. Even with the trailer in eyeshot of the gas station, someone still stole it.
If you or someone you know has seen or heard of the trailer pictured above, you're asked to contact the Hewitt police.
