Here is the reopening timeline for parks, libraries and other facilities in Waco.

The City of Waco now has a set schedule for the phased reopening of parks, community centers and more originally shut down to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

WACO, Texas — City of Waco facilities now have a set timeline to reopen, as the city released a schedule indicating when the public spaces would reopen.

Abiding by state safety guidelines, the openings will happen in three phases. The first phase is already underway, and began May 4. The next phase begins May 18 and lasts through May 31. Meanwhile, the last phase begins June 1.

Although a reopening timeline has been set, the city cautions that each phase may change based on the number of COVID-19 cases. 

Here's the current timeline:

Phase 1: May 4

  • Cottonwood Creek
  • Disc golf course 
  • Outdoor tennis courts 
  • Texas Ranger Hall of Fame

Phase 2: May 18-31

  • Playgrounds
  • Splash pads
  • Basketball courts
  • Fitness equipment
  • Skate park
  • Restrooms and water fountains
  • Park outdoor pavilion rentals 
  • Waco Mammoth National Monument - coordinated with the National Park Service 
  • Cameron Park Zoo
  • Municipal Court (payments only)
  • Library system

Phase 3: June 1 and beyond

  • Library system
  • Park indoor rentals
  • Practice fields 
  • Community centers 
    • computer labs, meeting rooms, fitness 
  • Senior centers - coordinated with Central Texas Senior Ministries 
  • Athletic leagues, softball/baseball tournaments
