BELL COUNTY, Texas — On Thursday, Nov. 16, the court was able to hear emotional testimony from fallen Killeen Detective Chuck Dinwiddie's wife of 22 years, Holly Dinwiddie.
Chuck Dinwiddie died during a no-knock search warrant operation on May 9, 2014. Marvin Guy is charged with capital murder for allegedly shooting and killing the detective.
Holly took the stand Thursday morning and told everyone in the courtroom just how special her husband was, and the hardships she experienced immediately following the shooting.
"Chuck is one everyone would call. He was my protector, he kept me safe," Holly explained.
On the morning of the shooting, Holly received a text asking if everything was okay. She immediately called her husband, but never got a call back.
Not too long after, "I got the dreaded knock on the door," Holly told the court.
When Holly arrived to the hospital she joined her husband's side as he was on life support. She says the doctors gave her no hope that things were going to get better.
Holly recalled that he could blink, but he was paralyzed and could hardly breathe. These tragic circumstances led Holly to make the decision to take him off of life support.
"It was the hardest thing I had to do. He was ripped from us, the hole will never heal. Our bubble is broken. We will live with this for the rest of our life," Holly shared.
At the time of Chuck Dinwiddie's death, his two kids were 8 and 10 years old.
