TEMPLE, Texas — As we creep closer and closer to Halloween, you might be wondering how you should celebrate the spooky holiday in Central Texas. 

Thankfully, there's numerous events to choose from when looking to get your fright fix, including many events that are fun for the whole family!

Check out our list of spooky events below. 

Temple

Haunted Hayride - Saturday, Oct. 21

Come celebrate the season at the 10th Annual Haunted Hayride which will take you on a tour of scary scenes and creepy characters throughout Rueben D. Talasek Bend of the River!

Time: 6 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. 

Cost: $7 per person, kids under two ride free.

Fright Fest - Tuesday, Oct. 31

Visit the Santa Fe Plaza for an evening of tricks and treats! This event will have trick or treating, a costume contest and an amazing fire dancer show, fun for the whole family. 

Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. 

Cost: Free 

Waco

Okturbofest Texas Charity Car Show - Saturday, Oct. 28

This event is geared towards the entire family and it will feature vendors, a low-car limbo competition, kids egg toss, sac race, trunk-or-treating, a raffle and much more! On top of it all you will get a chance to check out some of the coolest cars in town at 400 Karem Circle. 

Time: Noon to 5 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Halloween Block Party - Tuesday, Oct. 31

This event will be held at the Park Lane Drive Baptist Church and is a perfect party for children in the area. Kids can enjoy a bouncy house, pony rides, a train and tons of carnival games all for free!

Time: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Cost: Free 

Trunk or Treat at McLennan Community College Campus - Tuesday, Oct. 31

Starting at 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. in Parking Lot E outside the Highlands gym on campus, 1400 College Dr., the MCC Athletics Department will kick off a night of family-friendly activities with the Trunk or Treat event.

Then at 7 p.m. inside the Highlands Gym, celebrate the start of the 2023-24 athletics year with free t-shirts, costume contests, prizes, 3-point dunk contest, along with a guest DJ.

Both events are free and open to the public. If it rains on Tuesday, the Trunk or Treat event will move to the Highlander Parking Garage.

Killeen

Fall Fest - Saturday, Oct. 28

Come out to Stonetree Golf Club for food, music, candy haunted mansions, fall games and much more for the whole family! This event is completely free and you are encouraged to wear your spookiest Halloween costume. 

Time: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Halloween Kids Party 2023 - Friday, Oct. 27

Looking for a costume party to really celebrate the Halloween season? Then head on down to 3000 Old FM 440 #102 for candy, food, drinks and more! A costume contest will tie everything together, so be sure to wear your awesome costumes. 

Time: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. 

Cost: $8 entry 

Salado

Fright Trail- Saturday, Oct. 28

Salado’s Tablerock Nature Walking Trail will be magically transformed into Fright Trail. Tickets are available at the gate or online. A map for directions also can be found. For more information contact (254) 421-3903.

Time: 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Cost: $5 entry for 12 and under

          $10 entry for 13 and above

Trunk or Treat - Saturday, Oct. 28

Rising Above Equine is hosting a safe and fun night for kids and adults at its farm located at 1784 FM 2268. This Trunk or Treat event is a part of their annual fundraising efforts during the Harvest Moon Fest which benefits all the horses at CenTex Equine Rescue & Rehab. 

Time: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

Cost: Free
