Back-to-back fires doused in Temple, no injuries reported

According to the Temple Fire Department, while the fires were close in proximity and time, they were not related.

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Fire Department announced that fire crews battled two blazes off of Northwest HK Dodgen Loop on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

According to the fire department, the first fire occurred around 11:04 a.m. when a fire started inside of a silo at the Mars Pet Care Production facility on Eberhard Road.

The department says crews were able to cut a hole into the silo and spray water inside, ultimately ending the blaze.

The second fire occurred just after 1 p.m. when crews responded to an undeveloped area between Buzzi Court and Moores Mill Road to the report of a brush fire.

According to the fire department, additional units from Morgan's Point Fire Department, Moffat VFD, Troy VFD and the Texas A&M Forest Service were called to the scene to assist.

The department says the Forest Service was able to clear brush which allowed crews to get down to the affected area and at 4:30 p.m. the 55-acre fire was listed at 75% contained.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the brush fire is still unknown at this time.
