COPPERAS COVE, Texas — Thirty-four people were evacuated from their homes after a fire at Willow Creek Apartments in Copperas Cove on Thursday morning.
Their homes were destroyed by the fire, according to the Copperas Cove Fire Department.
At least two fire trucks, three ambulances and several other first responders arrived at the complex in the 300 block of Judy Lane after the fire started at 6:29 a.m., per the fire department.
It took more than three hours for the fire department to put out the fire.
Residents told 6 News they were getting ready for school or work when firefighters came to their door to get them out of the building.
No one was hurt and the Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire. It appeared the fire started in building eight, ultimately spreading to cause significant damage to all apartments, fire crews said.
The Red Cross is offering assistance to those in need and Fort Cavazos is providing relief to military-affiliated residents.
