Coryell County Disaster Recovery Center in Gatesville to close on Wednesday

The center was opened in Gatesville just over one week ago.

GATESVILLE, Coryell County — Editor's Note: The attached video aired on June 10.

Just over one week after being opened in Gatesville, FEMA has announced that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Coryell County will be closing.

The center, which currently runs out of Gatesville Junior High, will officially close at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26.

"Because this is a joint operation, we take guidance from state and local officials regarding not only the location of our DRCs but also how long they stay open," a representative told 6 News when asked about why the location was closing. "Foot traffic can certainly influence how long a DRC remains open."

This news does not affect the Disaster Recovery Center in Bell County, however.

"As far as the Bell County DRC goes, it remains open until further notice," the representative said. "According to the DRC manager at that location, foot traffic at that location remains steady."
