WEST, Texas — The entire town of West was told to boil their water before drinking or cooking with it Saturday.
City officials said the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the city to notify customers of the boil water notice because of pump failure and pressure loss in the water system.
"To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use," city officials said. "The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes."
The city will water system officials will notify residents when water is safe for consumption again.
Anyone with questions concerning the notice can contact West's public works director, C.J. Gillaspie, at 254-366-1503.
