HILL COUNTY, Texas — Multiple police agencies, a K9 unit and a drone were all part of the search for a man in Hill County Thursday night who ran into some woods after a traffic stop, according to the Hill County Sheriff's Office.
A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped John Farrow, 44, just before 10:45 p.m. The trooper called in backup and according to the sheriff's office the troopers smelled marijuana.
They asked Farrow to get out of his truck and while interviewing him, officials said Farrow ran off into the woods.
DPS, sheriff's deputies and a K9 unit all searched for Farrow on the ground, while the Hill County Emergency Management Coordinator searched for him from above with a drone, according to the sheriff's office.
Farrow was spotted with the drone, which the sheriff's office said followed him until the officers on the ground could catch him. The sheriff's office said the search lasted for more than an hour.
Farrow was taken to Hill Regional Hospital where he was treated for cuts and scratches, according to the sheriff's office.
Farrow was charged with Evading Arrest.
