HOUSTON — A little dog lived another day after it was rescued from a bayou bridge on Friday.
Visitors to the Houston Botanic Garden alerted staff to a small dog stuck on the support of a pedestrian bridge. Staff members called the fire department and Stations 29 and 42 responded.
A firefighter jumped into Sims Bayou channel and swam to the Chihuahua. It was safely brought to shore and wrapped in a blanket. Photos of the ordeal show a wide-eyed pup in the arms of a smiling firefighter.
"We love knowing that everyone and everything in and around the Garden is in good hands with these trained community helpers on the job," read a post from the Houston Botanic Garden on Facebook.
It was not immediately known how the dog became stuck on the bridge, who owns it or what comes next for the pooch.
