DENTON, Texas — Denton police are investigating an incident involving a school bus after multiple parents reported the bus was "driving erratically," officials said.

Officers were called on Tuesday afternoon about the incident at the intersection of West Windsor Drive and Crestwood Street.

Upon arrival, one mother told police the driver had repeatedly closed the bus door on her arms, police said. And children also said they had hit their heads.

The driver denied intentionally driving recklessly, police said. Officers will review bus camera footage as part of the investigation. Denton ISD said in a statement that the driver has been placed on administrative leave.

Medics examined the children and found them uninjured, police said. They were all released to their parents or picked up by another bus.

In a letter sent to parents of children who ride the bus, Denton ISD said the incident took place on Buss 116, which serves Evers Park Elementary.

"Please know, the safety of our students is always of the utmost importance, and no students were harmed during today's incident," the district wrote.

Denton ISD encourages students and parents to download the STOPit app, which allows them to anonymously report anything of concern to school officials. More information about STOPit can be found here.

In a letter sent to parents earlier this month, the Denton ISD transportation department said all of its drivers are certified and thoroughly vetted.

Another incident involving a Denton ISD school bus happened about this time last year, when a bus driver nearly hit three kids trying to cross the street.
