Community welcomes home Milam County deputy who was shot on the job

Deputy Sam Ferguson IV was released from rehab after being wounded during a mental health call near Rockdale on Nov. 16

MILAM COUNTY, Texas — Deputy Sam Ferguson IV is finally home. 

The people of Milam County gathered to welcome the deputy home after Ferguson was shot on the job in October. It took nearly a month for the deputy to recover. 

Law enforcement officers and community members lined up to escort Ferguson through Highway 36 through Temple to Cameron to show their support.

Ferguson has worked as a for more than 28 years with law enforcement.
